Southern Flow

This class is taught by:

Kelly Judge

While working in big cities and wearing uncomfortable suits and shoes, I began to feel disconnected with my path. As a former athlete, sitting at a desk and riding subways did not feel fulfilling. I began taking yoga classes and felt drawn to something I couldn't quite put my finger on! Through several moves and starting a family, I frequented different styles of yoga and teachers but had not yet found my yoga "home."

I love to teach yoga because I feel empowered and inspired by others growth and transformations on and off their mat! ANYTHING is POSSIBLE! More Connection, Love, Joy and Abundance! From this practice we can LIGHT UP the world!

My first 200 hr training was with Marianne Wells in the Iyengar methodology. I was also taking classes from teachers I felt spoke right to my heart. I was drawn to see what my teachers at Yoga One, a Baron Baptiste Affiliate studio, were up to! I then took Yoga One's Teacher Assistant Training and 200 hr training which led me to Baron Baptiste Level 1 & 2 and Art of Assisting.

Through my practice, I notice how my postures on the mat mirror my postures off the mat. I continue to practice, see and my curiousity keeps growing! With practice, my body, mind and spirit feel more flexible, aligned and strong. My yoga is a daily practice of finding balance in all aspects of my life.

With love and humility, I acknowledge my teachers and communities: My family, Marianne Wells, Southern Om, Yoga One, Baron Baptiste and Paige Elenson! All of whom have opened their hearts and caused POSSIBILITIES in my life for which I feel ASTONISHED!

When not at the yoga studio practicing or teaching, you will find me watching my 4 children play sports, helping with homework, doing laundry and looking for something to make for dinner!

Allison Hall

Allison recently moved back to Greenville after being abroad for the past 15 months in Munich, Germany. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, she received her 200 RYT from Charleston Power Yoga, a Baron Baptiste affiliate school, in 2012, she received her Yoga Sculpt certification from Core Power Yoga in Denver, CO in 2013, and is currently on the path to receiving her 500 RYT.

Allison began her yoga practice in 2005 after serious injury to her shoulders. Through yoga, she was able to find a path of healing both physically and mentally. Allison's classes are creative, fun, and accessible for all levels. She offers hands on adjustments and modifications to set each student up for success. Come to have fun and don't take yourself too seriously!

Athena Seay

A native of South Carolina, Athena brings to her practice an opening to grace and strength. She is grateful for the gifts that yoga has brought to her. These include overcoming a back injury and helping to raise her three children. Athena is certified through Yoga Alliance (230 RYT) through the Asheville Yoga Center, she also holds certificates in Pre/post natal Yoga and Pilates. Athena has been fortunate enough to take classes from many world masters including Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rea and John Friend. The greatest pleasure in her learning though comes from seeing the transformation that yoga has on her students.

Hope Brooks

Hope's love of Yoga started in 2010, specifically Hot Vinyasa Flow, what Yoga did for her mind and body made her a regular practitioner. Reducing headaches and strengthening her hyper-mobile joints are only two ways Yoga has improved her life. She seeks out Advanced Vinyasa classes and grows the diversity of her own practice with many wonderful teachers and friends.

In 2013 Hope attended Zanti Power Yoga's Teacher Training and became certified through Yoga Alliance, RYT 200.

Pace Beattie

A Greenville native, Pace learned to cultivate health in all areas of his life through his late parents, Sam and Catherine, who were dedicated to healthy living. Pace discovered a passion for hot yoga while trying to neutralize the stress of his job at the Chicago Board of Trade and increase inner strength and peace. In 2009, Pace decided to pursue his dream to open a hot yoga studio in his hometown of Greenville and Southern Om Hot Yoga opened its doors in June 2010. Pace has completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 with the Baptiste Yoga Institute. With decades of experience in meditation and alternative health, Pace inspires students with his courage and creativity. Pace is married to Sarah Beattie, a fellow yoga teacher and integrative health coach. He serves on the board of directors for the Fullerton Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to funding healthcare and education initiatives in North and South Carolina.

Wednesday Cooper

Wednesday enjoyed a long, fulfilling career as a stay at home mom but had always enjoyed fitness. When her children were grown, becoming a yoga instructor was an obvious choice for her. Yoga offers her calmness in her mind as well as strength in her body. She also enjoys running, healthy cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Joanna Klee

Yoga teacher, marketing leader, and kids coach Joanna Klee focuses on teaching each class with breath, sweat, and laughter. She invests the capital needed to cultivate a family vibe in and out of the studio. Adventures in global markets, in presentations across North America, and in parenting influence her teaching and translate into a playful yet intense practice.

Joanna integrates the physicality and mental focus from her passion for sports into yoga poses and athletic sequences. Side effects from her class may include heavy breathing, excessive sweating, and an unexpected urge to take new risks.

Marissa Marra

Marissa first discovered the power of yoga while living in Baltimore city in 2007, attending graduate school and searching for a healthy outlet to balance stress and establish a consistent workout routine. The physical and mental demands of hot yoga, positive environment, and desire to learn more- kept Marissa coming back to her mat. A few major life changes later- a move to Hawaii, and self discovering journey lead her to delve deeper and complete a 200RYT from Corepower Yoga Hawaii- heavily Baptiste and Iyenger inspired. Yoga became therapy, a safe place to turn inward despite the external world- which lead to a better version of self. Marissa guides with compassion, influenced by a medical career working with the Brain Injury population -creating a judgment-free space of encouragement and limitless beliefs. With mind-body-spirit connection; happiness, self-love and a balanced life are always available.

Jo Lynn Skelton

I was born and raised in Greenville, SC and didn't start practicing yoga until I was in my early forties. I walked into a class one day at my gym and am still there. The perfect instructor came into my life and encouraged me to do more with my practice and suggested I become an instructor. 8 1/2 years later I am still instructing and love every minute. My only wish Is that I could have found yoga in my teens or twenties. I point out to my classes that you're never too young or too old to practice yoga and it's unlike anything else you will ever do. Although temporarily sidelined by eye surgery, I will continue my work this year in Asheville on my 300 hour certification. I am so excited to be a part of the Southern Om family and look forward to meeting each and every one of you.

Kristen Albert

Kristen moved to Greenville in 2011 from Austin, TX, where she was blessed to live in a city with an abundance of amazing yoga. She found yoga in 2004 to compliment her marathon training. Because of her gymnastics background, she was immediately drawn to Vinyasa Flow due to its creative rhythmic element that included strength, balance, and total body awareness. Her practice began very physical, although she was always interested in diving deeper into herself and her spiritual knowledge. She finds great joy in the truth that yoga is never mastered, never mechanical or habitual, and it continuously provides opportunity to experience deeper and more profound moments.
Yoga has transformed Kristen’s life positively on so many levels. Her personal practice and teaching style have evolved and changed with her though the years to include whatever makes her feel most alive and authentic in body, mind, and heart. Most recently, yoga helped her immensely with two pregnancies, natural childbirth, and all the profound and magical changes that motherhood has brought to her life. Being a new parent has humbled her, opened her heart to allow more vulnerability and compassion, and stoked a fire within her.
She is very grateful and honored to share her passion for yoga and life with others.
Her classes are challenging and creative, yet also reflective and replenishing, with emphasis on alignment and breath. Her style draws from a variety of different lineages and mentors. Her intent is to cultivate freedom, fun, strength, and loving kindness while holding space for each student to discover their own inner teacher and their own authentic expression of yoga. Kristen is certified through Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 200, RYT 500 level. Outside of yoga, her joys are traveling, spending time outdoors, photography, dancing, music, and cherished time with family and friends.
Southern Flow is a flowing series of sun salutations, lunges, twists, balance postures, backbends, core strengthening, hip openers and inversions often referred to as Power Yoga. Designed to build core strength and flexibility while still maintaining focus on a meditative practice.
