Melissa Howard

Melissa's been practicing yoga since before she really knew she was practicing yoga. She worked on crow and handstand in her front yard as a young girl and begged her mother to put her in gymnastics. Her mother finally gave in and from 7th grade until 12th grade Melissa practiced gymnastics. After graduating high school she continued this love of gymnastics, for 2 years, by teaching tumbling classes to children. It wasn't until 2001 that Melissa stepped into her first yoga class and after several months of finding the right class, she knew she was hooked. Yoga helped her though depression and anxiety, as well as many of life's milestones. By 2010 she decided she wanted to teach yoga and share this gift that she so cherished. She completed her 200 hr RYT at Dharma Yoga Studios with the love and guidance of Chris Brown. She continued on her learning journey by completing her 300 hour RYT at Asheville Yoga Center with the help of Stephanie Keach. Also getting a certification in Prenatal Yoga and Children's Yoga. Melissa loves teaching Flow as well as Yin/Restorative and continues to grow herself as a teacher to better benefit her students. In addition to her yoga certifications she is also certified in Mat 1 and Mat 2 Pilates. When Melissa is not on her mat, she's running, cycling or hanging out with her husband and 3 kids.

Silica Larkin

Silica Larkin made yoga her primary physical practice three years ago, after ACL reconstruction surgery. Beginning with a mostly at-home practice of the Bikram beginning series (26). She found yoga to be such a powerful, positive tool for working on both body and mind that she decided to undertake a 200-hour teacher training to further her practice. She studied breath-centered Vinyasa Flow style yoga through North Main Yoga in Greenville, S.C. Silica's prior athletic background included training and coaching in running, triathlon, and martial arts. She believes in the power of yoga to transform us, body and soul and loves being able to introduce people to yoga and to lead them deeper into it. Ms. Larkin has done additional training in restorative/therapeutic yoga and laughter yoga and is also interested in Ayurvedic medicine.

Pace Beattie

A Greenville native, Pace learned to cultivate health in all areas of his life through his late parents, Sam and Catherine, who were dedicated to healthy living. Pace discovered a passion for hot yoga while trying to neutralize the stress of his job at the Chicago Board of Trade and increase inner strength and peace. In 2009, Pace decided to pursue his dream to open a hot yoga studio in his hometown of Greenville and Southern Om Hot Yoga opened its doors in June 2010. Pace has completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 with the Baptiste Yoga Institute and is currently in the process of becoming a Tier One Baptiste Certified Teacher. With decades of experience in meditation and alternative health, Pace inspires students with his courage and creativity. Pace is married to Sarah Beattie, a fellow yoga teacher and integrative health coach. He serves on the board of directors for the Fullerton Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to funding healthcare and education initiatives in North and South Carolina.
A conscious sequence of Yoga postures held for longer periods of time, challenging students with awareness to find their “edge” in body, breath and mindfulness. Develops strength, endurance and concentration.
