I am a ceramic artist, art teacher, mom and wife, biker, hiker and lover of Yoga. Since stepping onto the mat in 2009, my yoga journey has been an amazing experience. A year into my practice, I met a teacher who was able to make yoga in a school gym a very spiritual, healing experience. That began my journey with yoga.
A few months later I discovered hot power flow yoga and felt the healing power of heat and yoga work magic on my body. My yoga practice was transformed from being just a physical exercise into an entire mind, body and life experience.
Knowing how greatly this practice affected my life, I decided to join the teacher training experience and share this practice with others.
I love to see the changes in students... They are sometimes like flowers, closed and tight at the beginning of class, then opening into a full, peaceful, beautiful blossom by Savasana. It is a true gift to share this practice with others.
Christen Palombo instructs the following:
In a Yin Yoga class, you will hold a pose for 3-5 minutes. When holding a pose for longer periods of time the practitioner is able to get into the deeper parts of the body, the Yin parts. Tendons, ligaments, and joints are exercised, not stretched and the benefits of Yin are endless. We'll focus on the spine, forward folding, back bending, twisting, and side flexion, as well as the hips. As good as it will be for the body, a Yin practice can be challenging for the mind, because we rest into the poses. You will be talked through each posture and gently guided from one pose to another with more yang like movements to help the continuation of the blood flow to these yin-like places in the body.
